The Process for Dessert Tables, Afternoon Tea & Grazing

Each table is designed to bring together flavour, artistry, and atmosphere, creating a memorable focal point for your celebration. Whether it’s a full dessert display, a Somerset-inspired afternoon tea, or a grazing table layered with savoury and sweet details, every setup is created with the same care and craftsmanship as your wedding cake.

From first enquiry to delivery and styling on the day, the process is simple and personal, ensuring your table feels seamless within your wider celebration.

Step One: The Enquiry

The best way to begin is through the website enquiry form, where you can share your date, venue, guest numbers, and the style of table you’re interested in. Enquiries also come through email and Instagram, but the form is the easiest way to check availability and keep everything in one place.

Once your date is confirmed as available, I’ll send a full overview of the process along with a short questionnaire. This allows me to gather details about your event, style, and preferences so that I can provide an initial price guide. I aim to reply to all enquiries within 48 hours, with Friday submissions answered after the weekend.

Step Two: Securing Your Date

A non-refundable £50 booking fee secures your date in my diary. This covers the time taken to hold your date and begin planning your design, and it is not deducted from the final balance.

Once your date is confirmed, you’ll be invited to book an initial consultation via Zoom. This informal conversation allows us to discuss the overall vision for your event and the role your table will play within it.

Step Three: Consultation and Design

During the consultation we’ll discuss your ideas, preferred menu style, and any visual or seasonal inspiration you’d like to include. From there, I’ll help you refine the concept to suit your venue, guest numbers, and practical requirements.

You can choose from set menus for Afternoon Tea, Dessert Tables, or Grazing, or have a custom, seasonally curated menu created for your event.

Custom menus are developed around your preferred flavours, produce, and aesthetic, using Somerset ingredients wherever possible.

Follow-up communication continues by email to confirm final details and adjustments, ensuring everything feels cohesive and clear ahead of your day.

Step Four: Delivery and Setup

All setups are personally delivered and styled by me on the day of your event. Depending on the size and complexity of the table, setup usually takes between one and two hours.

Full styling and table design are available as an optional additional service. This can include florals, linens, serveware, and display elements designed to complement your venue and wider styling.

I liaise directly with your venue coordinator, planner, or florist in the week leading up to your event to confirm access, timing, and placement details.

Deliveries are available across Somerset and the South of England, with travel to other areas on request.

Step Five: After the Event

All allergen sheets, handover notes, and setup guides are provided to your venue or catering team. If any items have been hired, they can be returned easily by post or next-day collection using the provided packaging.

Packaging is kept minimal and eco-conscious, using recyclable or biodegradable materials wherever possible.

Investment

Each table is designed to order, with a minimum spend of £600.

Pricing depends on guest numbers, styling requirements, and the level of service involved. This ensures every table receives the same care, attention, and quality as your wedding cake.

Final quotes are tailored individually, taking into account menu selections, setup complexity, and additional styling.

Adding a Cake to Your Table

Many couples choose to include a cutting cake or tiered centrepiece alongside their grazing or dessert table. This allows you to enjoy the tradition of a cake-cutting moment while keeping your table abundant and beautifully styled. The cake can be designed to complement your chosen menu, echoing its flavours and seasonal details for a seamless look across the display.

Learn more about how your cake can be designed to pair with your table on the Wedding Cakes page.
