The Process - Ordering Wedding Cake

From first enquiry to the final slice, the process of commissioning a bespoke wedding cake is designed to feel simple, personal, and enjoyable. Every couple receives the same care and attention to detail, ensuring the experience of creating your wedding cake is as considered and memorable as the cake itself.

Step One: The Enquiry

The process begins with an enquiry through the website form, where you can check availability for your wedding date and share key details such as your venue, guest numbers, and overall style.

Enquiries can also be made by email or Instagram, though the form allows everything to be tracked clearly from the outset.

Once availability is confirmed, you’ll receive an overview of how the process works along with a detailed questionnaire. This helps gather information about your wedding style, design preferences, and the scale of your celebration, allowing an initial price guide to be provided based on size, guest numbers, and overall design direction.

All enquiries are replied to within 48 hours. Messages received on a Friday may be answered the following Monday.

Step Two: Securing Your Date

A non-refundable £50 booking fee secures your wedding date in the diary. This covers the time taken to reserve your date and begin preparation for the design stage.

Once your date is secured, you’ll be invited to book a design consultation via Zoom. This can take place straight away or closer to your wedding date, depending on when other details are finalised.

Step Three: Consultation and Design

The consultation is an informal conversation where we explore the details of your wedding and bring your ideas together. This includes discussion around your colour palette, flowers, venue styling, textures, and any design elements you’re drawn to.

Flavour options are also discussed, with recommendations offered based on your preferences and the season. Following the consultation, a set of digital sketches is created, showing design directions tailored to your day, alongside a detailed quotation for each option. This allows you to visualise the finished cake clearly before anything is finalised.

Step Four: Flavour Tasting

Wedding cake tasting boxes are available every three months, offering the opportunity to sample flavours before making final selections. Each box includes a range of flavours made using seasonal Somerset ingredients and is priced at £35 plus postage.

Two curated tasting box options are available, each designed to showcase a balance of classic and contemporary flavour combinations.

Step Five: Final Details

Around six weeks before your wedding, a short call is arranged to confirm all final details, including flavours, design elements, and delivery arrangements. The final balance is due four weeks before the wedding date.

In the week leading up to your celebration, communication takes place directly with your venue coordinator or planner, and with your florist if fresh flowers are being incorporated into the design.

Step Six: Delivery and Setup

On your wedding day, your cake is personally delivered and set up at the agreed time. Setup is carried out discreetly and with care, with additional styling of the cake table available if required.

An allergen sheet, cutting guide, and setup handover are provided to your venue or catering team. A photo confirmation is taken once setup is complete, ensuring everything looks exactly as planned before the day continues.

Delivery is available across Somerset and the South of England, with travel further afield available where required.

Step Seven: After the Day

Cake stands and display equipment can be hired if required. These are provided with a postal return box for easy return after your wedding.

Allergen information is always handled with care. While every effort is made to minimise cross-contact, all major allergens are used in the kitchen, so cakes cannot be guaranteed allergen-free.

Every part of the process is designed to feel calm and considered, from the first sketch to the final slice. Whether your design is classic, modern, sculptural, or artistic, each cake is created to reflect your story and the season it is made for.

Bringing Your Design to Life

Each classic design begins with a discussion about the tone and setting of your celebration. During your consultation, we’ll explore finishes, styles, and traditional techniques that best reflect your day. Whether you’re drawn to intricate piping, smooth ganache, or soft buttercream, every design is created with precision and an appreciation for timeless craftsmanship.

Classic designs of three tiers and under are suitable for collection, and clear storage and transport guidance will be provided to ensure safe delivery to your venue.
