Painted Wedding Cakes in Somerset
Each hand-painted wedding cake created by Lydia Kraitman Cakes is designed as a one-of-a-kind piece, combining craftsmanship, composition, and flavour in equal measure. These bespoke painted wedding cakes in Somerset are created using edible pigments and cocoa butter, painted directly onto the cake’s surface to transform each tier into a canvas.
Inspired by meaningful places, florals, architecture, and personal details, every design is unique to the couple it is created for and reflects the story of their day.

Landscapes and Scenery
Landscape wedding cake designs capture a sense of place, from the Somerset countryside to coastal views or venues that hold personal significance. Scenes can flow across multiple tiers or appear as framed moments, painted to reflect the colours, textures, and atmosphere of the season.
These designs allow the setting of a wedding to become part of the cake itself, creating a visual connection between celebration and place.
This four-tier wedding cake featuring hand-painted scenes of Glastonbury Tor, the Clifton Suspension Bridge, and the city of Bath. Created in 2025, this piece was priced at £1200.
Architectural Details
Illustrated venues, family homes, and historic buildings can be incorporated into painted wedding cake designs to reflect the spaces that have shaped a couple’s story. Each structure is painted by hand with careful attention to scale, texture, light, and architectural detail.
These elements work particularly well for weddings held in meaningful locations or venues with strong character.

Beloved Companions
Dogs, cats, horses, and other animals that form part of a couple’s life can be painted by hand as part of the design. These portraits can be woven subtly into a wider landscape or positioned as a gentle focal point.
Each animal is painted using fine edible pigments to capture character and warmth with a soft, natural realism, adding a personal and meaningful detail to the cake.

Botanical and Florals
Botanical paintings draw inspiration from bouquets, gardens, and Somerset’s natural landscape. Each bloom is painted to echo the flowers chosen for the day, creating soft movement and rhythm across the tiers.
Painted florals can be combined with sugar flowers, textured icing, or subtle gilded details to add depth and variation while maintaining a cohesive design.

Bringing Your Design to Life
Painted wedding cake designs begin with a conversation about your ideas, venue, and overall aesthetic, as well as the stories or details you would like reflected in the artwork. You will then be invited to share photographs and inspiration, whether landscapes, buildings, florals, or personal elements.
From this, a hand-drawn sketch is developed to show layout, colour palette, and painted details. Once approved, the cake is baked and painted by hand using edible pigments and cocoa butter, bringing each element to life with care and precision.
