Yes, wedding cakes should be stunning. But let’s not forget that the real magic happens when you take that first bite. A cake should be an experience - memorable, flavourful, and crafted with care. My cakes aren’t just for show; they’re made to be enjoyed, savoured, and remembered long after your wedding day.
The Best Ingredients for the Best Cake
A cake is only as good as what goes into it. I would not want to compete with supermarket prices, as I would have to lower the quality of ingredients I use to even come close to charging those prices. Instead, I simply create the best cakes I possibly can with the finest ingredients available. That means sourcing fresh, local, and seasonal produce, ensuring every bite is full of rich, authentic flavour. Doing the research to find the highest-quality products isn’t a chore, it’s something I take great pride in.
Fresh, Seasonal, and Local – Because Quality Matters

I go the extra mile (literally) to source the best ingredients. Strawberries are gathered in Cheddar during the summer, and apples, pears, figs, cherries, quince, plums, blackberries, raspberries, roses, and rhubarb are all picked from my garden or purchased from my neighbours. My honey either comes from my lovely neighbour, whose bees can be found hanging out in my edible flower patch in the summer, or from Black Bee Honey in Shepton Mallet. Spirits are from the Cheddar Spirit Company, butter is from Longman’s, flour is from Shepton Mill, and eggs and milk come from local farms. Supporting small, local businesses is important to me, both in my work and in my daily life.

It’s not just about the ingredients, it’s about how they’re used. I make all my own jams, fillings, creams, buttercreams, and sponges from scratch. No premixes, no shortcuts, just honest-to-goodness baking done right. Every layer of your cake is packed with homemade goodness, creating a depth of flavour you simply won’t get anywhere else.
I also use only high-quality chocolate and roast my own nuts, bringing out their natural flavours and adding a perfect crunch to complement all that creamy, dreamy deliciousness.
No Artificial Nonsense
I steer clear of artificial flavours, preservatives, and anything that compromises the integrity of the cake. While some may not mind these ingredients, I personally choose to work with real, natural flavours that enhance the cake experience. It’s all about making sure every bite is as delicious and authentic as possible.
